UIC Design COVID-19 Updates

The following information reflects the current status of COVID-19 response in the School of Design. Additional and more detailed information is available under Information For Students.
COVID-19
UIC has deep expertise in public health and maintains a UIC coronavirus webpage with frequent updates. The UIC COVID-19 Emergency Grant program has limited funds remaining for Fall 2020. For detailed information visit the FAQ page at Student Financial Aid and Scholarships.
WHAT TO DO IF YOU ARE SICK
Students with symptoms should call Student Health at University Village at 312-996-2901 for guidance; faculty and staff should call University Health Service at 312-996-7420 during business hours or the University of Illinois Hospital at 866-600-CARE (2273) after hours.

BUILDING ACCESS
Because Design classes are to be held online during the fall semester, we are not expecting undergraduate students to be seeking access to the Architecture + Design Studios Building (ADS). If you have need to utilize space in ADS Building, please contact Kathie Chung with details. Once your space use is approved, we can be certain that safe accommodations are provided. Any fauclty, staff, or students entering the building are required by campus to submit a Daily Wellness Screening. This is a self-reporting form that checks for Covid-19 symptoms.

MAKING CONTACT
The Office of the School of Design is not currently open for walk-in service. Faculty and staff are working remotely and available by appointment. We ask that you contact design@uic.edu with any questions or concerns.

Out of concern for the health and safety of our students, faculty and staff as well as our friends and families, all School of Design (DES) courses will be offered remotely in the Fall 2020 semester. The ADS Print, Project and Fabrication Labs are operating on a service bureau model. Printing and prototyping services are arranged through your course instructor.

LOCKERS
Please email Itzel Lopez for any questions about lockers. Returning students have the option of keeping last year’s locker or cleaning it out. Students may request a locker for the 2020-2021 academic year. Deadlines and more details to come.

All School of Design public events for the Fall 2020 semester have been cancelled or moved online. See our events listing for updates and please see @uic.design for highlights of As, Not For: Dethroning our Absolutes, the exhibition currently on display in our 3rd floor hallway galleries.
