UIC Design + BioEngineering Faculty Present at AIGA: Decipher
Kimberlee Wilkens, Assistant Professor of Industrial Design; Susan Stirling, Adjunct Associate Professor of Design Research; and Anthony Felder PhD, Clinical Assistant Professor of BioEngineering presented at AIGA Decipher 2018: Design Educators Research Conference— hosted by the Penny W. Stamps School of Art & Design at the University of Michigan.
Professors Felder, Stirling, and Wilkens facilitated a hands-on workshop with attendees, aimed at showcasing the design research methods taught in their Clinical Immersion Course, a 6-week summer program targeted towards educating medical and bioengineering students in needs finding and problem identification within the healthcare environment. Their workshop was based on a paper submitted to the conference, "How might we teach design research methods to non-designers in order to facilitate multidisciplinary team collaboration?", with contributions made by colleagues Robert Zolna and Miiri Kotche.
The event took place over 3 days in Ann Arbor, Michigan, September 27–29, 2018
