Sung Jang :: Midwest Modernism

Sung Jang, Assistant Professor of Industrial Design, is feature in the December 2017 issue of Newcity.

In Midwest Modernism, Rick Valicenti explores a "real magic in the air" in the work of Chicago-based designers, "as the design of objects races forward, taking a little of the past and a techno-vision of the future."

Professor Jang, interviewed for the article, describes his featured project: "This work, Mobi, shows the experimental space in between art and design that I find interesting. The industrially made, mass-produced, intection-molded module units are made to satisfy curiosity, not necessarily for a prescribed utility."
